August Traffic Brings Orlando International To 49.9 Million Annual Passengers

Orlando International Airport (MCO) continues to knock on the door of having 50 million passengers. In August, MCO registered a rolling 12-month total of 49.9 million passengers with an 8.43 percent increase in traffic for the month.

“As the busiest airport in Florida we continue to track and closely monitor our growing passenger totals,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Not only is each monthly increase a travel record for us, it also re-affirms the value and importance of having the facilities and staff to meet the needs of business and leisure travelers to our region.”

Contributing to the positive July numbers, El Al Airlines started new seasonal service at MCO to Tel Aviv, Israel and nearly 370,000 additional seats were added to the market from Spirit, Frontier, GOL, Copa and JetBlue airlines.

July 2019 Statistical Data:

  • International traffic increased 12.98 percent in July with 691,707 arrivals and departures at MCO

  • Domestic passenger traffic climbed 5.07 percent with 3,798,304 total travelers in July

  • Combined, overall traffic was up 6.22 percent with 4,490,011 passengers for the month of July

  • On a rolling 12-month basis, MCO’s yearly traffic stands at 49,581,415 passengers (record), which is a 7.2 percent increase over this time last year

Basic MCO information:
For the month, Spirit and Frontier airlines both increased seat capacity into Orlando International Airport by more than 38 percent each, adding more than 300 thousand seats to the market.

August 2019 Statistical Traffic Data:

  • In August, domestic passenger traffic increased 8.33 percent with some 3,495,631 passengers at Orlando International Airport

  • International passenger volume climbed 9 percent over 2018 records with 669,909 arrivals and departures from MCO

  • Combined total traffic was up 8.43 percent with 4,165,540 travelers at Orlando International

  • For the rolling 12-month total, Orlando International was just shy of 50 million passengers with 49,905,419 in August, an increase of 7.8 percent over the same time last year

  • Operations at Orlando Executive Airport also increased by 12.2 percent in August bringing the total up to more than 120,104 operations for the rolling 12-month period
