The Story Of GOLDEN OAK at Walt Disney World® Resort

The story of Golden Oak begins in true once-upon-a time fashion. As a youth in Missouri, Walt Disney would lie beneath the spreading branches of his "dreaming tree" and let his imagination run free. It was here that Walt's talents for storytelling and fantasy began to take shape into some of the world's most beloved characters.

Years later, a scenic ranch in California's Placerita Canyon proved an equally inspiring location for filming segments of The Mickey Mouse Club TV show. Walt Disney Productions purchased portions of the property in 1959 and, over the years, acquired more than 900 acres to reserve its quiet vistas for TV and movie productions and protect its harmony with nature. In fact, Walt and his family spent time relaxing and playing on the ranch.

The name of this ranch? Golden Oak, in honor of a storied tree there, under which some say gold nuggets had been found in 1842. From these illustrious origins, the legacy continues with Golden Oak at Walt Disney World® Resort.

A True Sense Of Community


Summerhouse, Golden Oak's private clubhouse, is home to Resident Services and also offers casually sophisticated dining, a private lounge, a family room with game area, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, gathering areas indoors and out, a courtyard and heated outdoor pool. Summerhouse also hosts a variety of don't-miss occasions throughout the year for children and adults alike, many with a special theme or seasonal focus.

Golden Oak Resident Services brings Disney’s guest service culture directly to homeowners. The dedicated Resident Services team uses a concierge-style approach to help assist with select everyday personal, residential and resort requests such as; Disney Parks and special event tickets, in-home dinners and parties, dining reservations, spa reservations, golf tee-times, home maintenance services and move in services.

Neighborhood and Streets

Historic Disney lore exists throughout Golden Oak, but most notably in the naming of the neighborhoods. Golden Oak’s Carolwood is named after Walt Disney’s backyard railroad. Kimball Trace originates from Ward Kimball, one of Walt Disney’s key animators. The Silverbrook name comes from Silver Lake, the location of Walt and Roy Disney’s original studio in Los Angeles, California. Marceline was inspired by Marceline, Missouri, the location of Walt Disney’s boyhood hometown.


Golden Oak offers a limited collection of luxury, single-family custom homes and home sites, with a number currently available for sale. At full build out, Golden Oak is anticipated to have approximately 290 homes.

Village Homes
Capturing the romantic look of a Mediterranean village, these stylish Tuscan inspired homes are located adjacent to the private clubhouse on approximate .25-acre home sites.

Estate Homes
Located on approximate .5-acre home sites, Estate Homes offer a variety of architectural styles including Tuscan, Southern Classical, French Country, Spanish Revival, Venetian, Italianate, Dutch Colonial and Island Colonial.

Grand Estate Homes
A limited number of Grand Estate Homes are offered on approximately .75-acre home sites. Designs are consistent with Estate Home architectural styles. Grand Estate homes are designed to accommodate the needs of large and extended families as well as corporate use.

Walt Disney Imagineering created the master plan for the community. Golden Oak Development is the master developer, and Golden Oak Realty manages the sale of the homes and home sites—both of which are Disney companies. The homes are built by unaffiliated custom home builders who contract directly with home buyers.

All plan designs are required to undergo an architectural review to provide flexibility and creativity in the design of each residence, while also complementing the natural environment and protecting every property owner's investment. The architectural review process is intended to protect the long term integrity and vision for all those who have chosen to purchase a home in Golden Oak.

The Golden Oak Experience includes family resort-living amenities such as the custom designed Summerhouse facility (including private dining, family room with game area and complete fitness center), community events, proximity to Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort, and parks, gardens and recreation areas; concierge-style resident services; and Disney Connection (allows families a way to experience a special kind of Disney through Extra Magic Hours Benefit, merchandise delivery, golf package and park transportation).

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort is located within the Golden Oak community. Residents will have access to select amenities at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort, including a Tom Fazio designed golf course, superlative restaurants, facilities for private events, and a full-service spa.
