Park Square Homes will launch a trio of new subdivisions on Polk County's U.S. 27 corridor this year, all designed to appeal to first-time home buyers. The Orlando-based home builder has already started clearing land for two communities. Goldenridge, near the intersection of Holly Hill Road and Davenport Boulevard, has 131 lots. Trinity Ridge, which has 62 lots, is closer to Walt Disney World and U.S. 192.
Walmart's total investment in the facility is more than $300 million, according to figures the company released in May. In 2015, Polk County officials approved a 10-year tax abatement incentive deal for the project.
"Walmart could have chosen to open this new fulfillment center in any location," Gov. Rick Scott said in a statement. "Yet they know that Florida is the best place for them to grow their business and create new jobs."
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has revealed its statewide growth and investment plans for Florida, which it says will lead to an economic impact of well above $450 million. The mega-retailer’s plan will grow Walmart’s 375-facility footprint in Florida and build on the continued positive momentum in U.S. sales, customer traffic and customer feedback that the company highlighted in its most recent financial results.
